International Fund for Animal Welfare (IFAW)

The International Fund for Animal Welfare (Australia) Pty Ltd works to improve the welfare of wild and domestic animals, protecting wildlife habitats and assisting animals in distress.

IFAW around the world seeks to motivate the public to prevent cruelty to animals and to promote animal welfare and conservation policies that advance the well being of both animals and people.

IFAW (the International Fund for Animal Welfare) saves individual animals, animal populations and habitats all over the world. With projects in more than 40 countries, IFAW provides hands-on assistance to animals in need, whether it's dogs and cats, wildlife and livestock, or rescuing animals in the wake of disasters. We also advocate saving populations from cruelty and depletion, such as our campaign to end commercial whaling and seal hunts.

In Australia IFAW is campaigning to create a network of protected areas for whales and dolphins around our coastline.

As part of the Protect our Coral Sea coalition, IFAW is one of 14 Australian and international conservation groups dedicated to gaining maximum protection for our Coral Sea, a tropical marine jewel which lies east of the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park and an incredible 'biodiversity hotspot'.

IFAW is also a member of the Save our Tropical Sealife alliance , a group of conservation organisations working to ensure the tropical sea life of Australia’s north and north west is fully protected in a world-class network of large marine sanctuaries from Kalbarri (WA) to the tip of Cape York (QLD).

Whales face more threats today than ever before. Through campaigning, research and hands on help, IFAW is leading the fight to save whales.
